Most
Bowen treatments will start with the body balancing sequence of moves. These gentle
moves relax the recipient, and release tension in the muscles. This allows the
body to start to adopt its natural posture.
The
illustration shows the various points over which the Bowen body balancing moves
are made. There
are thirty individual moves in all, some of those shown are covered twice. The
body is treated in a specific sequence, starting with the lower third, then to
the upper third to finish with the central area. The
therapist, whilst carrying out the body balancing moves, gains an insight into
residual tension in muscles and any asymmetry in the skeletal system. It
also enables judgements to be made as to the response of the patient to the Bowen
moves. This will
govern the pace and depth of the remainder of the Bowen Therapy session. |
